Junior Rock Band:
Junior Rock Band is one of Avalon Music Academy’s most popular programs. Designed for kids ages 8-12, with limited musical experience, students learn to play simplified versions of popular and classic rock songs in a group setting!
Junior Rock Band students are offered several performing opportunities throughout the school year, and learn to become comfortable on stage.
This program works best when combined with weekly private lessons, but it is open to everyone. Private lessons are not mandatory in order to be able to participate.
When? Fridays from 4-5pm, beginning on September 15, 2023.
Where? Avalon Music Academy, 45 Dalkeith Drive, Brantford
For how long? Our Junior Rock Band program operates for the duration of the school year (September-end of June). Students only have to commit for a month at a time.
Ages? 8-12
Cost? $75/month for students enrolled in private lessons at Avalon Music Academy. $100/month for students who are not enrolled in private lessons at Avalon Music Academy.

Senior Performing Band:
Avalon Music Academy’s Senior Performing Band is our hallmark program. It is designed for students ages 13-18, who have achieved some proficiency on their instruments. The Senior Band learns and rehearses well-known rock anthems, and are given parts that are specifically tailored to their age, experience, and skill level.
The goal of this program is to create kids and teens who work well with others, and who are very confident and comfortable on stage. The Senior Performing Band is offered several performance opportunities throughout the school year.

Adult Jam:
Avalon Music Academy’s Adult Jam is designed for students ages 18+, who want to have fun with their musical skills! Whether you have played for a few months or a few years, you will feel at home here.
This performance-based program employs a relaxed band environment, where musical concepts are taught through learning specific songs that you will know and recognize.
Those who are registered in the Adult Jam are invited to perform in all four of Avalon Music Academy’s annual concerts.
When? Fridays from 7-8pm, beginning on September 15, 2023

Rockin’ Rookies:
This is a program for 3 & 4 year old students with no previous musical experience.
What will they learn?
The fundamentals of rhythm, beat, dynamics, and song structure through play-based group activities. They will even get to make some of their own instruments!
AND they will begin to learn how to make music with others. Your little musician is already learning to become a ROCK STAR!
Where? Avalon Music Academy, 45 Dalkeith Drive, unit 2 (upstairs)
When? Weekly on Saturdays, from 9-9:30am, beginning on September 16.
For how long? The program runs for the duration of the school year (September-June). You only have to commit for a month at a time. You do not have to be an Avalon student to enroll in Rockin’ Rookies.

What happens when students complete Rockin’ Rookies?
They graduate into our Jammin’ Juniors group class, where they will explore various instruments and learn some fun songs. Now they are even closer to being rock stars!
Jammin’ Juniors:
This popular program is designed for 5&6-year-old students with no, or limited, musical experience.
What will they learn?
The fundamentals of rhythm, beat, chording, and melody
They will explore various instruments including ukulele, piano/keyboards, drums, and singing. They can later decide which instrument they might like to pursue!
Jammin’ Juniors will learn some fun songs, and how to play them as a beginner rock band. They’re already little rock stars!

Songwriting Group:
Creating original songs is one of the best ways for children and teens to express themselves, and process difficult emotions.
Songwriting is also one of the most rewarding experiences for musicians!
Join our Songwriting Group, where you will learn the fundamentals of arrangement and music theory, while you compose your original works. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with others on songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops.
Students in Avalon’s Songwriting Program are given the opportunity to take the stage several times throughout the school year, and perform their own songs. They may also band together to record their songs, and release them across online platforms.

Choir:
The Avalon Music Academy Choir is designed for students who are enrolled in private vocal lessons at Avalon.
Students in the choir will learn important elements of melody, harmony, and timing, and how to apply these musical concepts when singing as an ensemble.
The choir will learn popular songs, and each member will be assigned parts based on their vocal range and their comfort level.
The Avalon Music Academy choir will be invited to perform at all four of Avalon’s annual concerts, as well as at student showcases.
When? Saturdays from 2:30-3:30pm, beginning on September 16, 2023

Avalon All-Stars House Band:
The Avalon All-Stars House Band offers students between the ages of 13-18 the opportunity to perform in a real rock band!
These students perform regularly throughout the school year, at all Avalon concerts and student showcases. They also back up other students, who would like to perform a song with a band behind them.
Any Avalon student who has achieved some proficiency on their instrument, and who can learn songs independently as well as with a group, is invited to audition.
Once selected, Avalon All-Star Band members become leaders in the Avalon community. These students often go on to become Avalon teachers.
When? The first auditions will be held on Friday, September 8, beginning at 4:00pm. Second audition dates will be announced to those who successfully pass the first round.
We will be auditioning lead guitar players, rhythm guitar players, bass players, keyboard players, drummers, and singers.
Please come prepared with one song of your choice, and We Are the Champions by Queen.

For how long? Members of the Avalon All-Star Band are expected to be available for the duration of the school year (September-end of June).

Cost? It is FREE to be a member of the Avalon All-Star Band. Please note that you must be registered in private lessons at Avalon Music Academy in order to audition for, or participate in, the All-Star Band.
